How to Remove Your Poems from Lulu Poetry

The greatest advantage of Lulu Poetry is that it provides and open platform for poets to share their work with the world. However, poetry is always full of passion, and sometimes your thoughts about your work might change over time. Poets may want to update poems, everything from subtle edits to even removing a poem completely from the site.

The good news is that we are busy building new features for Lulu Poetry- soon you will be able to update, edit, or remove your own poems just by logging in to your account.

Right now, removing poems is still a manual process and can take 5-10 business days for us to complete. If you would like your poetry removed from the site, please contact our Customer Service department at removal-request@poetry.com and they will give you a hand.

Good things are coming for Lulu Poetry. I’m glad that we can all be part of such a wonderful community.

Cheers!
Annie

Hi Chirag,
I’m sorry that you are having trouble contacting our support team. The email address does seem to be working on our end. Can you please give it another try?
Thank you,
Annie

Hi Orlando,
It is difficult for us to combine accounts right now. We are working hard to streamline the process and add new features, and we should be able to combine account in the coming months.

I would suggest making a note of your email for the time being. Check back with us soon about combining your poems into one account.

Thank you,
Annie

Hi Nancy,
We completely understand that situations change, and would be happy to remove your poem. Please send us an email to removal-request@poetry.com and our support team can help you.

Please remember that you poem will be removed from Lulu Poetry, but Lulu has no control over Google search results. For a while after your poem has been removed, your name will probably still show up in Google searches. This is just because Google does not update their search index every day. The link to your poem, after the poem has been removed, will not show your poem to visitors and your poem will disappear from Google results over time as they update the search.

Good luck with your daughter!

Here’s the problem: I have over 2 weeks ago sent an email to removal-request@poetry.com and they said it would take 5- 10 business to take my poems and my name off your website and still nothing. I am starting to get very aggrivated with this. I even contacted nick popio wrote a letter more than one email and still almost a month later I am still find me and my poems up here. Thats very unprofessional of you and your company. Now I’m asking ONCE AGAIN remove me and my poems immediately.

Posted by Katie on 5 May 2009 @ 1pm

Annie there is a way for lulu to help get pages removed from google here is the link http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=61062

Posted by jewlz on 5 May 2009 @ 4pm

Thanks Jewlz, I had not seen that information before. I will send this link to our support team.

I do not imagine that it will become standard practice for us to contact Google about removing links, since the links will not lead to the actual poems once they have been removed. However, it is good information to have in case of urgent cases.

Thanks again,
Annie

Katie,
I am very sorry that you had so much trouble reaching us. The removal-request@poetry.com list is experiencing high volume, and there have been some delays in responding. We are working very hard to reduce this wait time.

Your poems have now been removed from Lulu Poetry.
Thank you,
Annie

Hello, I too am beginning to get very aggrevated with your company “lulu poetry”. I have requested several times to have my poetry removed from the site. I have contacted your company by email numerous times using the link removal-request@poetry.com and also I have even went as far to contact Gail Jordan- Director of public relations at [removed by moderator] but my poetry is still posted on your site. PLEASE REMOVE MY POETRY FROM YOU SITE!!!!

Bonita,
I am very very sorry that you have not gotten the help you requested. Our removal-request@poetry.com email list is experiencing high volumes, and it is causing an unwanted delay in response time. I will see what I can do to help with your request.

Just for everyone’s information, it can actually cause more delays if you email removal-request more than once on the same issue. It generates more tickets that our support team must sort through, and can make it harder for us to get through them all. Contacting our PR department is also not the best method to get help. While they are all wonderful people, the PR team does not have access to the systems to remove poetry.

We are working hard to build lots of exciting new features for Lulu Poetry, including ones that will allow you to edit and remove poems yourself. This should be available later this summer. In the mean time, we will respect any poet’s desire for their content to be removed, but please be patient as we work on the requests. We know that Lulu Poetry will be a wonderful community, and I hope you will stay with us to see what is in store.

Thank you,
Annie

W02866601 or P0732729 My husband and I are still waiting for the refunds on the poetry.com books. I have decided to wait and not submit any poems to poetry.com, which I always like to do! I have sent email and paper mail to ask for refunds. We have not gotten the poetry.com books in the mail YET, BUT IF WE DO, I will feel bad about it. Originally, I had wanted to just submit poet profiles to go with different poems. Please refund because I asked for refunds in January!

I appreciate your time and consideration!

Hi Marian,
Lulu purchased the domain poetry.com but not the business behind it. Lulu.com and Lulu-Poetry are not affiliated in any way with the former owners of http://www.poetry.com, Watermark Media, who have gone out of business, or their publishing endeavors. We recommend you contact them about any outstanding refunds or orders.

In the mean time, I do hope you will consider uploading new poems to Lulu Poetry.

Thank you,
Annie

I recently stumbled upon a poem that I submitted to Poetry.com probably in excess of six years ago published on your site.

This poem was never intended for mass publication and I am dismayed to find it here.

May I suggest that you consider sending an email to all former competitors who likely did not intend for their poems to be stuck on search engines requesting their permission to have their poems published in this manner. This may also assist in expediting the removal of such poems.

Its really an opportunity to withdraw a poem from this site. But why? I am enjoying here with other friends.Read my poems dear and suggest me to withdraw.Thats good.

Confused, see no place to “log-in” Submitted a poem friday 12th of june, searched today, name doesn’t appear. Can you search by poem title? I did receive an email informing me that I had interred a poem but where is it? Also, assuming I can get a poem to show up, how can you check to see how it is being received or rated? All very strange.

Posted by patrick mason on 15 June 2009 @ 12pm

I have several poems and awards from the original Co. I also have a coupon to attend the poetry convention taking place in Las Vegas, NV. My poem “Lingering Love” was going to be displayed, what will happen with any of that?
Sincerely, JD Shelly

Posted by JD Shelly on 17 June 2009 @ 5pm

Hi Patrick,
You should be able to view your poems on Lulu Poetry right after submitting them, although they will not be available for ratings until 24 hours after submission. When I searched for your name, I saw several poems listed. I hope they were yours! You currently cannot search for a poem by title, but that is something we would like to improve soon.

If your poem is not appearing for some reason, there may have been an issue during submission. Please email help@poetry.com for more assistance.

Thank you,
Annie

Posted by Annie on 19 June 2009 @ 2pm

Hi JD,
Unfortunately, the previous owners of http://www.poetry.com have gone out of business, and so have most of their affiliated programs- like the International Society of Poets and the poetry conventions. At this time, Lulu Poetry does not have plans to host a convention.

Even though the convention is not happening in Las Vegas, I do hope you will continue to enjoy posting your work and connecting with other poets online at Lulu Poetry.

Thank you,
Annie

I had submitted “internal Bedfellow” under the name Patrick Mason and have been unable to locate poem or my name, though other patrick mason’s are present, none of these particular persons are myself. If “Internal Bedfellow” exists in you arena I do not wish to submit like title again, but would enjoy poems display. Please help discover or resubmit said work.

Posted by patrick on 27 June 2009 @ 2pm

Annie, can you personally assist me on this issue. This is frustrating me seriously. This is not a good start for your company if you cannot assist people in easy poetry removals? Not only did poetry.com not send me my “paid for anthology” but they posted my poem against my will and I want it off. I will deal with the fact that my money went to a fraudulent company but I will not deal with the fact that my poem is out there for massive viewing? I want my poem off immediately!

To Lulu.com

I am in a situation, where I want to publish my poems on your website, but when I choose Denmark, it says in your page that the country is invalid. The other problem you have on your webpage is that not every country has a state. Why don’t you put non-US for foreign countries? I didn’t have such a problem with poetry.com. If you don’t fix this problem, I am not going to publish poems on your website.

I’m going to have to take some serious action if my poems are not taken off your website. You guys are not making an effort what so ever to make a “poetry removal” on this webpage for users. I’ve tried contacting you to get them taken off, and you have not done a single thing in 3 months.

Posted by Mich on 2 July 2009 @ 2am

Lulu.com does not have permission to print my poems online.

I have demanded to have my poems removed at once.

Lulu.com states that authors will not be able to edit or remove their poems for weeks!

I have 3 ticket numbers, left a message with the copyright department, and no one has contacted me about removing my poetry.

Please contact me via email immediately. I can not stress the gravity and timeliness of this issue enough.

Yes company’s need to make money but keep you clients in mind as well. I have not had any assistance from your company in accessing my old poems from the original site nor have I had any help or response to my emails on how to remove them.
