Monthly Poetry Contest Winner for May

I am very excited to announce that the winner of Lulu Poetry’s Monthly Contest for May is Franco Dario Lombardo Llull for his poem With One Kiss.

With One Kiss was a winner of the Daily Contest earlier in May, and has gotten consistently high ratings all month. In addition to this recognition, Franco will receive $250 as a prize for winning the Monthly Contest.

Congratulations Franco!

This may be a stupid question…but how do I check the rating on the poem I entered in the contest?

P.S. I apologize for wasting a comment for this.

Hi Graham,
That is a good question, because it certainly isn’t clear on the site. Right now, the way to view a poem’s rating is only by submitting another rating for the poem. After you vote on it, you will get a page with the poem’s ranking.

This is another of the features that we are working to improve. Soon, we plan to offer a better way to check your poem’s ratings and to see how they rank against other poems on the site.

Thank you,
Annie

Hi Linda,
We are still in the early stages of Lulu Poetry, but we are working hard on developing new features that will help you to interact with other poets on the site.

We would be delighted to have your poems on Lulu Poetry. You can register for an account with our premium login (http://www.poetry.com/premium/login.asp) or just upload your poems through the submission form on the homepage.

Thank you,
Annie

Just a question. When a friend looks up your poem and is asked to submit a vote, and clicks on that icon, none of my poems can be given a vote, other poems come up yet they can submit other poets works and have no problem submitting a vote for them. Just curious why that would be. Not that they are wanting to stuff the ballot so to speak, trust me, they would not.

Hi Robin,
Of course your friends should be able to rate your poem! After you upload a poem, it takes 24 hours before that poem is available for ratings. It just takes a little while for your poem to be incorporated in the database properly. We are working to shorten that time, but for now there is a 24 hour delay.

If it has been more than 24 hours and your friends still cannot rate your poem, please contact our support team at help@poetry.com.

Thank you,
Annie

I don’t quite understand the statistics that pop up after voting on a poem. They are a bit confusing. Can you please explain them? (”Daily Votes,” “Daily Average,” “Monthly Votes,” “Monthly Average,” “Today,” and “Total”) I would think that “Daily Votes” would be how many times that poem has been evaluated per day, yet for some reason it has always showed a “1,” and if that were so, what would be the point of having the “Today” statistic..? It’s rather ambiguous. I would appreciate your clarification. Thanks!
